Every year you are likely to read several blogs about the most spectacular things to do in and around the UK and Europe during December. You’ll hear about flashy Christmas markets in Brussels and light displays in Hyde Park — but these tourist traps aren’t where you’ll discover the true magic of Christmas. You will find this in the picturesque town of Leatherhead.

Located at the gateway to the Surry Hills where the chalk hills of the North Downs meet the Thames lowlands — Leatherhead is the perfect nexus between the countryside and the city, offering an old school community charm alongside every modern amenity both locals and travellers might need.

When it comes time to recharge in between the hustle and bustle of markets and perhaps a Greggs Festive Bake or five — we suggest going out for a walk. Box Hill, Ranmore Common and Leith Hill offer stunning winter trails with frosted views and a quiet beauty that never fails to still the mind. Pack a thermos of hot chocolate or better yet, finish your walk off at a nearby pub with a crackling fire and a pint.
